Trust is Everything

You know that feeling?

That immediate gut check you shy away from acknowledging. That white lie you blurt out before you even realize it, because you don’t want to say the wrong thing and will do anything to avoid the shrapnel.

My father, a devout Christian, has always held trust in the highest regard.

I was in Grade 5, and I had really messed up.

I’ll never forget that conversation with him or the knot-in-your-stomach feeling that came with it.

“Trust takes years to build and seconds to break…and once it’s broken, there’s no guarantee it can be repaired.”

That stuck with me.

Throughout my career, not just in financial services, I’ve always tried to be someone others can trust.

If I put my name to something, I follow through, even when doubts creep in along the way.

Because at its core, isn’t that what this industry should stand for?

We have difficult conversations. We’re trusted with deeply personal information. We collaborate with other professionals to support our clients in meaningful ways.

That trust cannot be taken lightly, especially in moments when clients feel most vulnerable.

When I made the decision to move into this industry, I knew one thing for certain, trust would be my foundation. That gave me confidence in the transition.

Today, I embrace the responsibility of being a trusted advisor. Not because I have all the answers, but because I know how to find them and I will always follow through when I say I will help.

As we continue building our futures, we do so on the foundation of trust with our clients and within our communities.

If someone places their trust in you, treat it like the most valuable thing you’ll ever be given.
